Responsibilities

NORTON CHILDRENS RHEUMATOLOGY , affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, is seeking a leader to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology for University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Section Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology for Norton Childrens. This leadership position is integral to advancing pediatric rheumatology care, education, and research within our institution.

About Norton Childrens Rheumatology

  • Three pediatric rheumatologists on staff
  • Clinical staff with more than two decades of experience
  • Provides care to patient populations from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Southern Illinois who represent a variety of cultures
  • Utilizes advanced technologies, including a new MSK Ultrasound machine
  • Developing a multi-disciplinary lupus clinic in conjunction with our Hepatology and Nephrology
  • Works collaboratively with pain psychology with pediatric behavioral and mental health, neuro immunology and our growing pediatric gastroenterology team

About UofL School of Medicine Division of Pediatric Rheumatology

  • Works collaboratively with Adult Rheumatology and the Internal Medicine Fellowship program
  • Clinical research support staff who assists with grant contracting and construction
  • Engages in the education of future pediatricians and a program with 72 categorical pediatric residents, 15 child neurology residents and 20 Med / Peds residents and 35 Fellows
  • Active with the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) and Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Study Group (PRCSG)
  • The University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Rheumatology  has worked together with Norton Childrens Hospital to care for the patients of the region, train the doctors of tomorrow, conduct research, and innovate in the field of child health for nearly 100 years. Together, we look to grow significantly in the coming years to carry out our shared mission :

  • Be the regions most comprehensive and preferred health care system for pediatric patients from infancy to young adulthood
  • Train tomorrows pediatric health care providers and leaders
  • Translate clinical research to state-of-the-art bedside care

  • ABOUT THE POSITION

  • The new chief will join a growing team of experienced clinicians and staff dedicated to leveraging clinical care and research to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate a capability for clinical or bench research and be interested in ongoing clinical activity.
  • The candidate should engage in multidisciplinary collaborations with a variety of ongoing and upcoming programs.
  • The division chief is expected to guide junior faculty and trainees in their career development, foster growth in clinical areas, expand scholarship, and establish an affirmative, positive working environment that leads to retention, in which all team members can thrive.

  • Qualifications

    Required :

  • Medical degree / diploma
  • Residency / fellowship certification
  • Kentucky medical license or license eligible
