The Store at the Norton is an integral part of the Museum experience and shares a supportive role in interpreting, representing, and conveying the Norton Museum of Arts strategic objectives. Through store sales, it serves to generate profits to bolster the institutions educational objectives, while enhancing the overall quality of the Museum visitors experience by highlighting merchandise relative to the Museums collections and exhibitions. The Museum Store Associate provides a key role in achieving the stores goals by assisting in key areas of daily functions, including handling sales and POS operations. The Museum Store Associate provides our museum visitors with the highest level of service, ensuring that their experience is positive and memorable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities -
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Present a welcoming environment for customers, maintaining professional engagement.
- Demonstrate excellent product knowledge and contribute to sales.
- Operate POS system.
- Keep the store clean and organized, ensuring displays are inviting and the merchandise is stocked & replenished as needed.
- Remain updated on daily Museum happenings such as tours, programming, and exhibitions.
- Understand Museum policies and proactively assist visitors and staff members as needed.
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff members.
Physical Requirements -
- The person in this position must be able to stand throughout the entirety of their shift and be able to bend, stretch, and move around the sales floor & stockroom areas without difficulty.
- Must have the ability to lift, move or carry up to (20) pounds.
Qualifications -
- Assist with the stores annual inventory.
- Highly professional. Positive personality and attitude.
- Service- oriented. Thrives on strong customer engagement.
- Previous specialty retail and/or sales-related experience.
- Ability to work well in a busy, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must be available to work weekends, specifically Sundays and Friday evenings during Art After Dark.
- Values and supports the strategic goals, mission, and initiatives of the Museum.
- Communicate in an effective manner. Bilingual a plus.
- A degree of flexibility with ones work schedule is ideal.
