Purpose of Position :
Provide patient and family focused medical care to area residents in accordance with NSHC's mission, philosophy, medical staff bylaws, policies and procedures while applying standards for medical professionals in the clinical / hospital setting. Coordinate patient assignments, monitor care and provide back up for physicians.
Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.
Essential Functions :
- Assess, plan and provide patient care under the supervision of a physician
- Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations
- Ensure proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
- Use the appropriate process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation when : assessing the patient's condition and needs, setting outcomes, implementing appropriate actions to meet the patient's / family's physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and safety needs, and evaluating patient progress
- Ensure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost-effective manner, discharge planning is carried out, and the medical regime for each patient is implemented as prescribed by the physician
- Participate in facilitating patient and family learning, reinforcing continued patient health care through teaching and / or referral to community agency follow-up, explaining the patients' disease process and planned interventions to patient / family
- Demonstrate ability to care for medical, critically ill, traumatically injured, mental health, emergency, maternal / neonate, and pediatric patient populations according to policy and procedure when medically necessary using the appropriate process for assessment
- Perform other duties as assigned
