Job Objective: Serves as the Athletic Trainer and PE/Health Teacher for Norwalk Catholic/St. Paul High
School
General Summary: The Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive healthcare services for student-
athletes, including prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. They will work closely with
coaches, athletic staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure the safety, well-being, and optimal
physical performance of student-athletes. This position also would teach classes related to the position, for
example, Health, PE or other related classes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and emergency care during athletic events, practices, and games.
- Evaluate injuries, create treatment plans, and monitor recovery progress for student-athletes.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to develop and follow up on rehabilitation plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
- Educate athletes, coaches, and parents about wellness.
- Ensure compliance with all state and district health and safety regulations related to athletic activities.
- Manage and maintain training room equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Assist in emergency planning and reviewing emergency action plan for athletic facilities.
- Provide high quality instruction with timely grading and feedback to students and their guardians while
- Maintain excellent classroom behavior management
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Provide exemplary communication skills to parents, staff, and stakeholders
- Work well with fellow staff members in a professional learning community to ensure what is
- Build positive, productive, professional, relationships with students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Ohio
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Practicing Catholic Preferred: Help carry on the mission of Christ’s church
- Ability to obtain an Ohio Department of Education license/certification
- Must successfully pass the required background check and all requirements of the Toledo
- Diocese VIRTUS program prior to employment and maintain a satisfactory background check
- Have an understanding of technology pertinent to the classroom including Google Workspace,
- Microsoft Office, Smart Technologies, PowerSchool, etc.
- Train and certify coaches in CPR and first aid
- Inspection and maintenance of all Norwalk Catholic AEDs
Work Environment: The Athletic Trainer will work in both indoor and outdoor settings, including
gymnasiums, training rooms, and athletic fields. Evening and weekend hours are required to provide coverage
for practices, games, and tournaments. Away game travel is required for varsity football.
