- Design, implement, and continuously improve 6-12 English, Social Studies, and World Language curriculum aligned with Connecticut State Standards
- Evaluate and recommend instructional programs, resources, and technologies to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Ensure consistency and vertical integration of curriculum across grade levels to support seamless learning progressions.
- Support the Implementation of specialized programs and pathways (IB, GT, AP, Dual-Enrollment, etc.)
- Analyze student performance data, including state and district assessments, work samples, and classroom outcomes, to guide instructional improvements.
- Provide actionable insights to schools, aiding in the interpretation and application of assessment data to inform teaching, coaching and leadership practices.
- Collaborate with school administrators and teacher teams to develop actionable plans for improving student achievement.
- Design and deliver comprehensive professional learning opportunities for staff, ensuring alignment with district goals and instructional best practices.
- Support the implementation of 6-8 Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) across schools.
- Partner with building principals, district departments (specialized learning, data and multilingual learners), and external stakeholders to ensure curriculum coherence and instructional excellence.
- Serve as a district representative on committees and at events, promoting Norwalk’s commitment to academic innovation and student success.
- Oversee the evaluation and selection of instructional materials, including textbooks, digital tools, and library/media resources.
- Drive research initiatives, pilot studies, and innovative practices to support curriculum and instruction enhancements.
- Monitor and assess the impact of implemented strategies, providing timely adjustments as needed.
- Promote positive relationships with staff, students, and the community, fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Leadership Development, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent of Schools.
- Proven success in curriculum development, program evaluation, and professional learning facilitation.
- Deep understanding of Connecticut State Priority Standards and literacy instructional best practices.
- Expertise in analyzing student assessment data to inform teaching strategies and program improvements.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to foster cooperative relationships.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and instructional excellence.
- Effective communication and presentation skills with an understanding of adult learning principles.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
- Administrative certification or eligibility for certification (092) in Connecticut.
- Master’s degree or higher in a core academic subject from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated leadership in school/district administration, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Proficiency with technology, including computer network systems and educational software.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- High integrity, professional character, and initiative.
- Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written).
- Spanish fluency (preferred).

The Education Administrator for Humanities (6-12) plays a key role in fostering academic excellence by leading the implementation of the Portrait of the Graduate, Norwalk’s K-12 Literacy Plan, Strategic Plan, and the 6-12 curricula for Language Arts & Reading, Social Studies, and World Language. Collaborating with district leaders, staff, and the community, this position ensures alignment with Connecticut State Standards, drives instructional innovation, and supports student achievement across all secondary schools. The Education Administrator closely collaborates with the Education Administrator for Humanities for grades Pre-K- 5.
