We're seeking an experienced Commercial Credit Manager to join our team!

As our Credit Manager, working under the direction of the Commercial Credit and Administration Officer, you'll oversee the day to day operations of our Commercial Credit Team.

You'll use your strong commercial credit skills, extensive experience, and coaching and leadership abilities to supervise our team of Analysts and Commercial Loan Assistants; and will be responsible for the evaluation of financial and other risks associated with business clients, in order to make a credit decision, loan structuring decision, and / or recommendations to a credit approver.

Essential Pieces of the Position :

  • Guides and develops the daily workflow of the credit team including work assignments and training.
  • Manages credit administration and allocates resources effectively. Ensures that commercial loan requests (new and renewals) are underwritten accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Manages / coordinates the annual review, covenant testing and financial statement gathering process.
  • Advises commercial lending officers as needed, offering assistance and resolution.
  • Ensures the department's adherence to banking regulations (State and Federal), Bank policy and procedures. Advises management of compliance issues in regard to the same.
  • Reviews, analyzes and processes commercial loan requests in keeping with the Bank's policies and procedures. Recommends terms, conditions and risk rating.
  • Underwrites, from time to time, the most complex commercial loan requests.
  • Oversees and recommends improvements to Bank policies and procedures. Ensures that any changes meet regulatory guidelines and are successfully implemented.
  • Assists in the administration of the Bank's strong commercial loan portfolio to maintain quality control and minimize losses.
  • Assists in the review and interpretation of new pending laws and regulations that potentially affect the Bank's business practices.
  • Serves as a resource for credit policy and procedure interpretation for commercial lending officers.
  • Participates in weekly loan committee meetings.
  • Maintains a growth mindset by offering innovative solutions in deploying team resources and technology.
  • Guides, manages and assists in the development of direct reports.
  • Performs annual performance reviews of the credit staff.
  • Work with Examiners and Auditors as required.

Our Candidate Should Have :

  • College degree with emphasis on accounting, finance or math, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of experience with progressively greater responsibilities in commercial credit and management.
  • Knowledge of federal banking regulations.
  • Knowledge of the local area and industry helpful.
  • Ability to separate the elements of financial statements and determine the probability of the conditions of the loan request being met.
  • Thorough understanding accounting, tax preparation, and general form preparation.
  • Excellent electronic spreadsheet skills
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
