What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theatrical Wardrobe Stitcher position at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.?
BASIC PURPOSE: Handle all aspects of costume fittings, builds and alterations related to Norwegian Cruise Line's theatrical production and Brand costume operation.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build or alter theatrical costumes, adhering to construction schedule set by Shop Manager.
Follow directions for alteration as noted on fitting cards and per fitter's instruction.
Follow direction from Draper or First Hand on all new build costume pieces.
Follow all company safety guidelines while working at Norwegian Creative Studios.
Perform other job related functions as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Theatrical Costuming or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant background and work experience.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years costume shop experience in theatrical costume building and alteration.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Expertise in theatrical alteration, hand and machine sewing, building and repair of theatrical costumes. Knowledge of cruise ship entertainment operations. Knowledge of theatrical wardrobe practices and principles. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts, including remote team onboard ships. Sound problem solving. Must be able to handle alterations quickly and efficiently as to be able to reach deadlines for dress runs and costume shipping. Must be able to operate all industrial and home model sewing machines, sergers, double needle coverstitch, blind hemmer, ruffler, and walking foot machines. Must be experienced in sewing, tailored garments, stretch wear, and modern/period costumes. Must have prior experience in the construction of new build garments. Knowledge of fabrics, interfacings and construction techniques are required on a daily basic for performance of job. Required to multi-task several different projects at once.
