JOB DESCRIPTION: Early Learning Educator
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in ECE required.
- Knowledge of CT ELDS and NAEYC standards preferred.
- Previous experience, training and/or expertise in working with young children (under 5) and their families.
- Ability to routinely kneel, bend, crouch and sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
Reports To: Early Childhood Coordinator and Building Principal
General Description: The Early Learning Educator is responsible for the day to day oversight and care of the children in the School Readiness Preschool Classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain positive, compassionate and respectful working relationships with families from a diverse cultural background.
- Display excellent communication skills in order to articulate feedback in a clear and concise manner to families.
- Ensure children are safe at all times.
- Hold a current first aid and CPR certification.
- Attend professional development according to state licensing, funding and NAEYC requirements.
- Work in cooperation with other staff to ensure the classroom maintains NAEYC accreditation.
- Assist children with self-care tasks to include diapering
- Physically assist children getting on and off of playground equipment, classroom furniture, etc.

- Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment
- Must be able to assist in the lifting/carrying of students in excess of 50 pounds
- Occasional exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather
Terms of Employment: 7 hours per day, 12 month position. Hours - 9:30am to 5pm
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support services.
