JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Development Laborer (RDL) to join our team. As a RDL, you perform a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment, and machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for providing physical labor and maintenance of our residential community assets in a proper, efficient and safe manner, which includes, but is not limited to the following functions:

  • Performs general preventative maintenance tasks throughout our development project.
  • Performs a variety of physical tasks to ensure grounds are maintained and groomed.
  • Perform shoveling and removal of snow from sidewalks and medians.
  • Pick up trash and debris.
  • Apply and sweep off ice melt from walkways when necessary.
  • Perform erosion control tasks using sledgehammers and shovels to include installation and removal of silt fences, as well as lift and wrap grates)
  • Maintain quality standards on each project.
  • Report any job site problems/concerns to supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Report any equipment problems or concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

INTERPERSONAL/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Laborer must possess the ability to read and write basic English, as well as understand and follow oral and written instructions. The candidate must be able to assist the Field Supervisor and other team members, as exemplified by the candidate’s ability to:

  • Work with all representatives of the department on various projects as assigned.
  • Communicates all pertinent job-related information to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Assist with the supervision of vendors/contractors as needed.
  • Be service minded and committed to the company’s goals, objectives and policies by being an excellent ambassador for the Company.
  • Perform the essential functions of the position without constant supervision
  • Be self-starting and self-motivated
  • Communicate with residents and contractors/vendors in a courteous and professional manner.

EDUCATION and/or WORK-RELATED ABILITIES:

The Laborer must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 6 months’ work experience in grounds / landscape maintenance. The incumbent must have the ability to:

  • Operate light to medium motorized equipment, to include the reading and understanding equipment manuals
  • Possess basic math skills
  • Apply knowledge of maintenance techniques and company approved safety practices.
  • Possess reliable transportation to include a valid state driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance which meet the state’s minimum coverage requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to bend, stoop, squat, stand or walk for extended periods of time. Further, the use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms, climb, crouch and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands for this position range from moderate to hard and are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The Laborer must be able to:

  • Lift and carry mechanical equipment, tools and project supplies weighing up to 70 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and carry (using lifting aid devices as applicable) with other equipment and supplies weighing over 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moderate to hard outside weather conditions. Therefore, the incumbent must be able to:

  • Work in dusty, dirty, wet, and cold conditions
  • Perform physical labor outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Enjoy working outdoors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
