JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety:
• Collaborate with the Norwood Police Department, Facilities, and Technology Department to coordinate and document emergency management planning throughout the school system.
• Evaluate the current status of emergency and security preparedness and develop written action plans, emergency planning documents, to enhance safety and security for the District.
• Support students and staff with any safety-related issues, concerns, or problems.
• Establish and maintain communication and coordination with local, state, and federal agencies with respect to safety and security planning and response. Coordinates crisis communication procedures within the District.
• Trains faculty, staff, and students regularly on best security and safety practices.
Compliance:
• Serves as the School District's Compliance Officer for School Committee policy implementation and procedures.
•Oversees, monitors, and trains staff on the Districts Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan and procedures.
• Regularly reviews School Committee policies to ensure implementation and compliance.
• Collaborates with the Director of Technology to respond to Public Record Requests.
• In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, investigates staff and student incidents, as directed by the Superintendent.
• Serves as the School District's Compliance Officer for Civil Rights and Title IX.
• Serves as the School District's Sexual Harassment Grievance Officer. Coordinates and responds to any DESE PRS complaints.
• Provides leadership on new mandates from the state and federal education departments and assists with state and federal audits.
Communication:
• Coordinates and develops a communication strategy for the district. Creates and implements the district communication plan.
• Coordinates in conjunction with our public relations firm to message and manage outreach to all stakeholders.
• Coordinates and offers guidance to district administration on communication strategies to articulate the district mission and vision to the community.
Other Duties:
• Assists the Superintendent of Schools and School Committee in the process of negotiating collective and non-collective bargaining agreements as requested by the Superintendent.
• Assists the Superintendent of Schools, as directed and appropriate, in the supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff administrative personnel
• Represents the School District at meetings as requested by the Superintendent of Schools.
• Attends regular and special meetings of the Norwood School Committee as requested by the Superintendent to assist in communication, advice and counsel to the Superintendent and School Committee regarding all issues related to strategic initiatives and logistics.
• Assists the Superintendent of Schools in the development implementation of the Annual School Budget.
• Provides consultation and direction to the School District's personnel on all matters as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
• Any, and all other, duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
Per individual Contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Director of Safety, Compliance, and Communications.
Full Time: 52 weeks per year
Start Date of July 1, 2025
