What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Pragmatic Learning Center (PLC) Teacher position at Norwood Public Schools?
Select teaching strategies specifically around Autism Spectrum Disorder for implementing IEP goals and objectives for assigned students. Maintain continuous performance data on student IEP objectives and documents progress on IEP forms. Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to the students' changing needs. Coordinate specialized instruction with regular education curriculum as appropriate.
Train and supervise instructional aides and volunteers as required. Prepare and apply current special education practices and theories. Establish, monitor and adjust behavior management plans for individual students needs as it relates to typically autistic behaviors. Work cooperatively with staff to implement, train and monitor specialized behavior plans with appropriate students.
Work closely with Speech Language Pathologist to create effective programming specific to this population. Develop curriculum and programs to reflect current abilities of students' specialized needs. Access available resources, personnel, literature, research and in-service. Complete all required reports and records in an accurate and timely manner.
Work effectively with multidisciplinary team and_ other professionals regarding needs of special students for assuring appropriate learning experiences. Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents, staff and students. Inform Building Principal/ staff on progress of assigned students. Maintain a data system to accurately record student information.
Conduct appropriate assessments to determine program eligibility and services. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
