Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Adaptive Music Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education and a commitment to fostering a love of music in students of all ages and abilities. This role involves teaching in a variety of settings with varied populations while creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. The Music Instructor will work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels, helping them develop their musical talents and confidence.
The primary responsibility of the Adaptive Music Instructor is to develop and implement adaptive music programs to build connections, and to support learning through music to meet the needs of individuals living in and around the Truckee Meadows. This position entails direct service duties, administrative duties, and regular contact with program participants, parents, community agencies, and donors. The Adaptive Music Instructor will assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of various community concerts, fundraising activities and special events as needed. Please note: Preference will be given to bilingual applicants.
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum for community-based adaptive music programs
- Implement community-based adaptive music programs
- Teach individual and group adaptive music classes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress
- Work with music therapy clinical team to assess program challenges and opportunities on a regular basis
- Support collaborative programs with community partners
- Represent the agency at networking and community meetings
- Work with staff, executive director, and board of directors to set organizational goals, to create and implement action plans, and to evaluate results
- Assist in organizational marketing/outreach activities
Education and Experience
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or music therapy
- Ability to read a variety of styles of music notation
- Advanced proficiency in at least one instrument
- Meets basic competencies in at least guitar, piano, and voice
- Experience with curriculum and program development
- Experience adapting music instruction to teach individuals with disabilities, neurological impairments, neurodivergence, and mental health diagnoses
- Experience teaching music in both 1-1 and group settings
- Experience teaching music to children, adults, and seniors
- Previous nonprofit experience preferred
- Experience working with people from a wide range of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds preferred

- Willingness to work flexible hours with occasional evenings and weekends, especially during special events
- Ability to provide own transportation to offsite locations for programs, events, outreach

Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
