What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Real Estate Development position at Nothing Bundt Cakes?
Position Summary
The Vice President of Development will be a key leader in the organization, assisting the CDO with overseeing all aspects of bakery development in the U.S. and Canada. This will include real estate strategy and development, development services, retail design, and collaboration with construction.
Experience in a retail franchise environment is highly preferred, along with experience in leading a high growth, scalable team. Ability to deliver new bakery openings at a high pace but in a predictable manner is essential – strong need to balance speed with consistency.
Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:
- Lead a lean team to scale new unit growth at unprecedented pace
- Drive innovation and improvement in new bakery opening process, store formats, real estate site selection, and all aspects of development
- Think analytically, making data-drive decisions
- Monitor competitive environment and perform market analysis
- Influence franchisees regarding site selection, construction process, and opening timeline
- Develop project strategies, success criteria, plans, budgets and timelines aligned with the broader Development plans and Company goals
- Provide recommendations with supporting analysis for executive decision-making
Required Skills & Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of real estate and development; consistent record of delivering results
- Superior understanding of brand and guest values
- Can develop long-term strategy, plans and initiatives to drive growth across organization
- Experience working with a multi-unit operation; franchise experience preferred
- Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; provide leadership highly motivated and self-directed
- Change agent, never satisfied with status quo; bias for action
- Team player with natural ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
Education/Certifications and Work Experience Requirements
- 10-15 years development experience, significant preference for franchise development
- Bachelor’s degree required
