PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This highly visible position is responsible for successful management of the Credit Union's Commercial Lending. Responsible for origination and underwriting for the commercial lending offered by the Credit Union. Coaches, mentors and leads other Commercial Lenders (if any) and other in the Credit Union involved in Commercial Lending in best practices in order to achieve the Credit Union’s strategic goals.

- Has primary responsibility for achieving or exceeding Credit Union’s commercial lending goals including originating, underwriting, documenting and monitoring loans for and in the commercial loan portfolio.
- Effectively manages Commercial Lending, including Loan Officers, if any.
- Understands and can effectively apply commercial loan policies as well as evaluates and proactively responds to changes in regulatory, market, and competitive conditions with the ability to communicate changes, policies, etc. to staff.
- Must maintain a strong working knowledge of commercial lending including structuring, underwriting, and documenting commercial loan transactions.
- Maintains awareness of changes in commercial lending field, including government regulation, commercial needs and preferences, and relationship-enhancements; these mandatory changes are known to keep our lending area updated systems and practices.
- Maintains a working knowledge Small Business Administration (SBA) lending programs and regulations.
- Successfully monitors and provides exceptional loan service by accepting and acting on loan applications from members so as to increase and maintain favorable member service survey scores. Maintains loan documents in compliance with policy and federal regulations with no exceptions.
- Coordinates all lending functions by communicating plans for successful business models, with the Chief Lending Officer in order to review and improve division policies, products, and procedures as they impact the lending function and general membership.
- Partners with the Chief Lending Officer to communicate new ideas, plans, and business models as well as review existing loan products for improvement or elimination to increase Credit Union’s results and achieve strategic goals.
- Effectively measures levels of service, speed of delivery, and member satisfaction to establish metrics for standards of performance by staff and holds staff accountable for measured results.
- Participates in community affairs to increase Credit Union’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities as necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises partners (other Commercial Lenders, if any), especially pertaining to sales performance and the sales pipeline. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining partners; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position will require the knowledge to effectively process Commercial loan applications, establishes and maintains internal controls, maintains security controls, controls loan quality, and analyzes loan products in order to attain the lending goals and objectives of the Credit Union. A professional appearance and attitude as well as the ability to communicate, coach, counsel, and motivate the staff to accomplish goals is necessary.
