Notre Dame High School, a Catholic, college-preparatory institution sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross, seeks a passionate and dedicated educator to serve as an Anatomy & Physiology Long Term Substitute Teacher. Position Overview:
- This assignment runs from approximately the second week of August to the second week of December.
- This is an exempt position reporting to the Chair of the Science Department and the administrative team (Principal and Vice Principals)..
- Contracted hours are 7:45 A.M. - 3:15 P.M. on Tuesday through Friday, and 7:45 A.M.- 4:15 on Mondays.
- Evening and weekend commitments may include Open House events, admissions activities, curriculum nights, and department-specific workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate passion and expertise in teaching Anatomy and Physiology.
- Maintain instructional continuity by adhering to the established Anatomy & Physiology curriculum and lesson plans, while remaining responsive to student needs
- Develop and implement an engaging and effective curriculum that aligns with national standards and best practices in science education.
- Design and deliver culturally responsive and inclusive lessons that reflect the school’s DEI mission and initiatives, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
- Incorporate hands-on learning activities, laboratory experiences, and real-world applications to enhance student understanding and engagement.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods within an 80-minute block to cater to diverse learning styles and promote active learning.
- Proficiently use technology to enhance instruction and engage learners (e.g., Canvas platform, Zoom conferencing).
- Maintain excellent classroom management, creating a positive and productive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Establish open communication with Department Chair
- Relate to high school students and build positive relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Collaborate, problem-solve, and share best practices with colleagues.
- Commit to the values of Catholic education and the Holy Cross
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress.
- Actively participate in school-wide and departmental faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the science curriculum.
- Engage in the life of the school community by attending school Masses, assemblies, rallies, class retreats, sporting events, visual and performing arts events, etc.
- Fulfill chaperone and supervisory responsibilities during the school day and at some evening and weekend events.
- Assist with admissions interviews and other department-related duties as needed.
- Meet with students and parents as needed during X period, before, and after school.
- Write college letters of recommendation for students when appropriate.
Qualifications
- A degree in biology or a related field of science (Bachelor's minimum, Master's preferred).
- Experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology at the high school level is preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum.
- High level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives.
- Familiarity and competence in technology skills, and a desire to keep learning.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.
Salary : $63,090 - $84,788
