The Communication Arts Department of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business at Notre Dame of Maryland University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication Arts. The successful candidate will teach a range of media and communication courses starting in August 2025, contributing to the development of a well-rounded curriculum that prepares students for effective communication in both professional and media environments.
Responsibilities
This position is designed for a highly motivated individual who will teach courses that support our curriculum in media communication, digital media production, and marketing communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Designing and teaching courses that foster students' ability to critically analyze and engage with media, with a focus on professional communication strategies and media literacy.
- Cultivating students' skills in understanding and navigating the complexities of modern media environments, from digital communication tools to the impact of media on public perception and societal trends.
- Encouraging students to develop professional communication skills that are essential for success in various industries, helping them articulate ideas clearly, persuasively, and ethically.
- Integrating real-world media practices into the classroom, while ensuring students are equipped with the tools to critically evaluate and create media content.
- Maintaining a 7-course teaching load each academic year, with opportunities for summer teaching as needed.
