Essential Job Functions:
One hundred eighty (180) day contract with compensation and benefits approved by school board policies and regulations.Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated by the Supervisor of Transportation or designee in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of support personnel. - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two professional references attesting to the applicant's ability, character, and personal qualifications.
- Meet state requirements for licensing and physical examination.
- Meet county and state standards for driving tests and driver record checks.
- Ability to operate various vehicle types used in student transportation.
- Proficiency in radio communication systems.

Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles prior to every trip and post-trip inspections after every trip.
- Use established routes and designated car stops.
- Operate vehicles according to approved schedules.
- Report accidents and injuries to authorities as directed.
- Instruct riders on being responsible passengers.
- Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
- Prioritize the safety of students at all times.
- Notify the Supervisor of personal absences in time for securing a substitute driver.
- Maintain vehicle housekeeping duties inside and out.
- Monitor fuel levels and check gauges regularly.
- Report vehicle defects to the Supervisor.
- Foster positive working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, teachers, students, and Principals.
- Exhibit a positive image as a loyal representative of the school division.
- Demonstrate knowledge of county and state vehicular laws.
- Manage exuberant behavioral characteristics of youthful riders.
- Administer disciplinary procedures in accordance with school board policies and administrative regulations.
- Be alert and exercise good judgment in emergency situations, disabled vehicles, and irregular special requests by parents or riders.
- Comply with dress code requirements.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation or designee.
