Maintenance Superintendent

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the daily functions of the maintenance workforce. They will manage maintenance activities in a cost-effective manner while continuously driving process improvements to increase maintenance effectiveness and efficiency.
In your future role as Maintenance Superintendent, you will
- Be responsible for maintenance of all process related equipment and site facilities.
- Incorporate root cause problem solving to increase reliability of site equipment.
- Participate on project, operational, and/or cross-functional teams as required to support the business plan.
- Assign tasks and/or projects to maintenance employees.
- Execute programs such as preventive and demand maintenance, calibration system for ISO 9001, RC14001 and Mechanical Integrity to meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and control maintenance expenses and overtime.
- Be responsible for maintaining and managing site inventory of spare parts.
- Ensure maintenance employees are effectively trained to execute repairs on equipment, instrumentation, and facilities.
- Be responsible for HSES training of maintenance employees and adherence to appropriate codes and standards.
- Ensure participation of maintenance employees in HSES initiatives.
- Promote housekeeping standards in maintenance shop and maintenance storage areas. Ensure maintenance employees practice good housekeeping after completing a project or task.
- Participate as needed in injury and incident investigations.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate site procedures such as Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, and Pre-Startup Safety Review.
- Recommend and implement changes to mechanical equipment to improve operability, reduce downtime and increase throughput.
- Investigate equipment failures, size pumps, upgrade equipment, and install new equipment.
We believe you bring
- Minimum 5-10 years related experience in the chemical industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Working knowledge of personal computer software packages
- B.S. Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or similar field beneficial
- SAP, DCS, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and/or 5S experience beneficial.
- Experience with Behavior Based Safety processes a plus.
- Ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong safety background
