What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional/Teacher Assistant position at Nova Academy Charter School?
SUMMARY
A general function of the paraprofessional is to provide an array of services to the targeted students identified under the Title I A program. Provide instructional support in the classroom and other defined activities. Must be able to work with students, parents and professionals of diverse cultural.
Role & Responsibilities
- Providing instructional support to targeted students under the direct supervision of a teacher
- Providing one-on-one or small-group tutoring for targeted students
- Assisting with classroom management
- Providing instructional assistance in a computer lab
- Conducting parental involvement activities
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Nova and follow directives from superiors
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administrator and/or supervisor
- General enjoyment and understanding of children and awareness of general purposes and goals of public education
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in harmony with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents, and general public
- Ability to consistently model appropriate use of spoken and written English language
- Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient skills in typing and file maintenance
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective computer skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certifiable by the Texas Education Agency or an Associate Degree
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel with effective public speaking skills before large groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
REASONING SKILLS
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use basic office equipment and the ability to learn and use other software as necessary.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.
