Nova Behavioral Health, Inc. is accepting resumes for 2nd shift Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). This position will manage a milieu of up to 25 clients in a residential setting who have mental health and Alcohol and Other Drug diagnosis. The Behavioral Health Technician assists in providing client services using a variety of resources in support of and relating to the individual service plan. The BHT assists clients in identifying and obtaining available benefits and social and community services. May assist Behavioral Counselor with developing, organizing, and conducting programs to prevent and resolve problems relevant to substance abuse, human relationships, rehabilitation, or dependent care.
Shift Information:
3 pm to 11 pm
Minimum Education/Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Driver's License Required
- Valid Auto Insurance Required
- High School Diploma/GED Required.
- Active Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant Certification preferred
- One year of Alcohol/Drug and/or Mental Health experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Tech Duties – All techs are responsible for the following:
This is not an exhaustive list as there are always other tasks that need to be completed.
- UA’s after being off grounds, once a week, and randomly if suspected
- Complete tracking sheets and group notes by the end of your shift
- Supervise smoke breaks
- Prompt clients to be in every group in a timely manner
- Prompt clients for meals
- Prompt clients for medications
- Detailed printed shift log at the end of all shifts, w/ focus on client behaviors
- Shift change report with next shift
- Read emails daily and attend to action items
- Get snacks on Wednesday and Saturday at 1PM.
- Transportation as directed
- Facilitate assigned Groups and complete necessary paperwork
- Client List/Count – Completed every day. Must be up to date and accurate
- Update the board regarding clients entering, exiting, appointments and UA’s
- Escort client to and monitor client at meals in dining area
- Emergency contact book (Update as clients enter/leave treatment)
- Chores - Monitor that chores are being completed, and all clients are assigned a chore
- Set out and put away items for completing chores
- Clean-up of client's rooms who have left treatment – sanitize bed, clear out old stuff, etc.
- Discharge AMA Forms

- Entry notes – see Intake checklist for additional duties
- Complete exit surveys prior to client exiting treatment
- Document UDS in Logbook and keep up to date
- Check in visitors and follow schedule for monitoring visitations: adult and child visits
- Make sure the clients storage room and boxes are organized
- Engage clients in recreational activities
- Prompt clients to clean their personal area/rooms
- Take shredding to the Shred box in front copier room
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and personable program – (i.e. Clean & organize office, bathroom, entry, front/back yard, conference room, common areas, etc.
Tech’s only need to be in the office to clock in/out, prepare for group, complete paperwork (i.e. tracking sheets, group notes, shift log, etc.) shift change report, and to check their emails. The rest of the time should be on the floor interacting with the clients.
