Sr. Instrument Test Technician

Job Summary and/or Key Objectives:

Nova Biomedical is hiring an Sr. Instrument Test Technician in our Enterprise Rd, Billerica, MA facility (M- F, 6:00AM - 2:30PM). Ability to operate test and measurement equipment, such as Oscilloscopes and multimeters, to test instruments and assemblies. Ability to use small hand tools for soldering. Excellent working knowledge of computers and electronic components. Demonstrates proficiency with menu driven computer programs. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Assists Group Leader with calibration/maintenance of test fixtures. Trains and assists lesser skilled technicians. Works closely with manufacturing engineering for method, troubleshooting improvements and validations. Some board level testing of Med/Low complex boards requires 2 plus years’ experience, Technical School degree or above.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Maintain accurate paperwork.
2. Remove and replace components on circuit boards and in modules.
3. Read and understand schematics.
4. Work with SMT Boards at board level Med/Low complex.
5. Load software in systems.
6. Exceed the set time standards for testing Instruments.
7. Complete quality work by self-inspection.
8. Recognize defective materials and disposition them appropriately.
9. Use microscope while soldering and inspecting SMT components.
10. Implement changes per ECO/MV requirements.
11. Work with R & D on new and unreleased product.
12. Troubleshoot Instruments at testing and communicate to others.
13. Assist Final System Test with troubleshooting units that may have issues.
14. Participate in Continuous Improvement Processes through Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and 5S.
15. Train less skilled Technicians.
16. Continue to acquire knowledge necessary to perform the duties essential to the present job as it evolves.

Qualifications:

1. 2 plus years of Instrument Technician experience or equivalent.
2. Basic knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes (Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and 5S).
3. Basic understanding of ESD practices.
4. Basic knowledge of Inventory Control Principles.
5. Ability to read and understand OP’s, OI’s, TP’s or other supporting procedural documentation.
6. Flexible in taking on different job responsibilities.
7. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
8. Ability to problem-solve a variety of problems of a High complexity and scope and requires reasoning to produce desired outcomes.
9. Ability to read and speak English.

Education/Experience:

1. Degree Technical School
2. Minimum of 5 Years’ Experience
