Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Compressor Mechanic with expertise in electric drives to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial compressors, with a strong understanding of electric motor drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and electrical control systems. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our equipment and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain rotary screw, reciprocating, and centrifugal compressors with electric drives.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and service electric motors, VFDs, and control panels.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors and associated electrical systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer manuals.
- Install and commission new compressors and related electrical components.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize compressor performance.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including service reports and equipment logs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Compressor Mechanic, with a focus on electric drive systems.
- Strong knowledge of electric motors, VFDs, PLCs, and control circuits.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in compressors.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and electrical test equipment.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
Education & Experience:
- Technical diploma or certification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (preferred).
- 3 years of experience working with industrial compressors and electric drives.
- Experience with manufacturers such as Ingersoll Rand, Atlas Copco, Kaeser, or similar is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license (if travel to job sites is required).
Work Conditions:
- May require on-call availability and occasional overtime.
- Work in industrial, manufacturing, or field environments.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces as needed.
