This is a remote position.
Overview :
We are backfilling for a position of a controls tester, and this is specifically related to compliance controls. It's very different from IT controls, a little bit different from maybe Sox controls testing as well. So not looking for IT controls for sure Sox experience or internal audit testing experience might be transferable enough for us to look at a good candidate, but that is the sole responsibility of this person is to do is to perform controls testing and the testing that we have on our schedule isn't necessarily repeated testing. A lot of the tests we perform are first instance. This person should be well informed on how to scope out a test on managing from beginning to end.
The stakeholder kind of engagement in terms of kick off meetings requesting evidence and if they're familiar with using Archer, that's our system of record for putting in tests, that's also helpful.
But that's not necessary and somebody that can write well, I think that's what we have a few contractors and our trending kind of trait that we would prefer to have as somebody that can write well in terms of test plans and test depth, that's what we're looking for.
And then I think the last thing is just in terms of communication because this role is remote, we are you know expected to be on teams for the usually it's like 9 : 00 to 5 : 00 depending on where they are.
It's very important that the person is responsive to requests from the business, from management, including myself and then from other colleagues that are more senior, so that we can progress the test towards completion per our kind of internal project plans.
The writing samples, what kind of writing samples a business analyst or a test for compliances and regulations can produce.
Types of Compliance :
It could be we have a suite of about 200 thumb laws that we are responsible for complying with we as in Fannie Mae as well as MBS trust requirements. We don't necessarily test as I mentioned the same types of controls over and over, but they are related to financial services type of regulations. You might do some Equal Credit Opportunity Act tests of controls, you might do some MBS trust agreements, you might do some Fair credit reporting Act. I can't say that there's any particular type, but the laws and regulations all relate to financial services industry if that helps.
Testing Controls :
They would only be responsible for testing. Now as a part of their testing they might have a recommendation that you know the business needs to come up with the control, but that really is just a recommendation for the business and then the business would do the creation of the control and all of that. Our job, we're on the second line of defense. So our job is just to identify where there is a gap between what's expected and what's there and then we convey that to the first line and they fix it. So extensive experience testing these controls. You don't need somebody who has even worked on the governance side and monitoring and all. So it's pretty much just testing of controls.
Archer :
Are there any other programs that you would like this person to be familiar with coming into the road Tableau, I guess it's again not necessary, but a lot of our evidence is stored in Tableau as well as Salesforce. So just being able to navigate those systems, again, not necessary by any means, but familiarity is always good because that's where a lot of the evidence that we request for samples is stored.
Responsibilities :
- Conducting controls testing and analyzing results
- Leading test inquiry meetings with internal control owners
- Reviewing related policies, procedures, and job aids
- Selecting the sample of transactions to be tested
- Collecting and assessing evidence of control operation
- Preparing analysis and documenting test results in the system of record (MetricStream)
- Tracking identified issues through remediation
- Identifying and escalating issues to management promptly
