What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCDOT Special Inspector position at NOVA Engineering and Environmental, LLC?
NOVA Engineering is seeking South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Certified Special Inspector for our Columbia, SC office. We are looking for a self-motivated individuals with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Positions offer the opportunity for growth and advancement for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Perform field services for soils, pavement sections, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood framing, structural steel framing and other special inspections, as applicable.
- Coordinate with contractors, and NOVA staff regarding execution of required services and result of testing and/or inspections, as applicable.
- Prepare detailed and complete daily field reports
Qualifications:
- Certifications in 1 or more: SCDOT Earthworks, SCDOT Roadway Tech, SCDOT Concrete Field, SCDOT Aggregate, and SCDOT Asphalt
- ACI Field Certification
- Nuclear Density gauge certification
- Ability to read construction plans, details and specifications
- Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts for performing calculations
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
