What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Field Engineer (Special Inspector) position at Nova Engineering and Environmental LLC?
NOVA Engineering & Environmental has an opening for a locally based Structural Field Engineer (Special Inspector) for our Charleston, SC office.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Field Engineer will perform structural steel reviews, including bolted and welded connections, CMU, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, post tension cable, precast/prestress members, wood structures and cold-formed metals.
- Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
- Report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
- Ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
- Lawfully operate a motor vehicle. Maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep).
- Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required. Cellular phones are to be worn at all times and calls are to be returned immediately.
- Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures. Attend all technician meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification
- or Civil/Construction Engineering graduate who has passed FE exam and 6 months of experience with reinforced concrete inspections experience
- Experience with performing special inspections on buildings and structures
- Additional ICC licenses are preferred (Soils, Masonry, Welding, etc)
