Full job description
The Logistics Clerk is responsible for managing both international and domestic hazardous materials shipments, including processing shipments, preparing necessary shipping documents, and ensuring compliance with current DOT & U.S. Import/Export regulations across all transportation modes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with both international and domestic customers to ensure shipments and documentation are processed accurately and in compliance with all regulations.
- Resolve shipment and documentation discrepancies promptly, providing updates to all relevant parties as necessary.
- Prepare and review international and domestic shipping documentation in accordance with regulatory compliance, customer, and destination requirements.
- Collaborate closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure shipments are processed in a timely and accurate manner based on customer specifications.
- Monitor, resolve issues, and provide regular communication regarding all domestic, import, and export shipments.
- Provide regular shipment updates to all involved parties, ensuring transparency and coordination.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient and accurate processing of shipments.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Desired experience in domestic and international shipping, including hazardous material handling.
- Certifications such as DOT 49 CFR, IMDG, and IATA training are a plus but not required.
- Prior experience with domestic and international air, ocean, and truck transportation, as well as working with international freight forwarders and small pack couriers.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of software programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, and various ERP systems.
- Attributes:

- Positive attitude with a collaborative mindset, fostering effective teamwork.
