The Preparation Technician role is about more than maintaining vehicles and equipment. It's about ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. Your thorough inspections, routine maintenance, and quick resolution of technical issues are key to our fleet's compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. By supporting the fleet's readiness and reliability, you play a significant role in enhancing our operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and contributing to our transportation logistics' overall safety and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of accessorial equipment, to ensure safety
  • Performing inbound inspections of accessorial equipment (chains, binders, straps, and tarps) and detailing tractors to prepare them for new drivers.
  • Detail tractors and ensure they are ready for new drivers.
  • Utilize a tablet for work assignments and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of preparation tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance regulations related to vehicle maintenance and operation, ensuring the highest standards are met.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive or diesel technology is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Exposure to Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, noise, and potential exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., cleaning chemicals or construction debris), while following safety protocols. Physical requirements
  • Ability to Lift and Carry: Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects, such as tools, equipment, and materials, typically weighing up to 50 lbs or more, depending on the task.
  • Standing and Walking: Must be capable of standing, walking, and moving around the building for extended periods. This includes performing tasks in various areas such as floors, roofs, and mechanical rooms.
  • Climbing and Stooping: Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or stairs, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch to access equipment, fixtures, or maintenance areas.
  • Manual Dexterity: Must possess the manual dexterity necessary to handle and operate tools, equipment, and machinery, as well as perform small repairs and adjustments to systems and building fixtures.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, such as cleaning, lifting, and repairing, over extended periods.
  • Balance and Coordination: Must have good balance and coordination for tasks such as climbing ladders, working at heights, or moving equipment across uneven surfaces.
  • Vision and Hearing: Must have the ability to see clearly for inspection and repair purposes, and the ability to hear and respond to alarms or other sounds related to maintenance needs
