We’re on a mission to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning through collaboration, which is reflected in the hospitals, health centres, and community-based programs we operate across the province.Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Psychologist is a member of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary chronic pain team providing services to adults and their families. The Psychologist provides leadership and support for the WZ chronic pain team in the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based chronic pain care, within the biopsychosocial model. The incumbent will collaborate with other team members to triage patient care while providing assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy. The ability to conduct both individual and group treatment is required. The successful candidate will also participate in quality improvement initiatives including peer supervision processes for ongoing clinical development.This is a multi-site position, requiring travel between the Western Kings Community Health Centre, Yarmouth Regional Hospital, and South Shore Regional Hospital.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following : PhD in Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institutionRegistered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)Minimum of two years related clinical experience, including at least one year of clinical experience with chronic pain (less experience may be considered)Experience working in a Primary Health Care environment preferredAdvanced psychotherapy skillsExperience with research and delivering education is considered an assetDemonstrated ability to use a client- / family-centered approachCompetency in the use of psychological testingDemonstrated experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapyDemonstrated experience in the development of group psychotherapy programsAbility to complete biopsychosocial assessmentsKnowledge of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental DisordersAbility to communicate effectively with patients, families, public, community partners, and other professionalsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary teamAbility and comfort in working flexibly and creatively to provide servicesCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionCompetencies in other languages preferred; French an assetHours Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weeklyHours include days and may include evenings and weekendsTravel to various sites may be requiredMay include some work from homeCompensation and Benefits $52.99 - $66.23 HourlySuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
