Job Title: Unlicensed Dental Assistant
Reports To: Licensed Dentist
Job Summary:
The unlicensed dental assistant will support clinical and administrative functions within the dental practice under the personal supervision of the licensed dentist. This role involves assisting with basic chairside duties, sterilization, and room setup while adhering to state regulations and the Minnesota Board of Dentistry rules.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Chairside Assistance:
- Perform suctioning for saliva, blood, and debris during procedures.
- Conduct oral irrigation and drying using an air-water syringe.
- Assist in the retraction of cheeks and the placement of rubber dams as directed by the dentist.
- Apply fluoride varnish under the dentist's supervision.
- Sterilization and Room Setup:
- Prepare and organize the treatment room before and after procedures.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain established infection control practices.
- Support Duties:
- Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of the clinic environment.
- Help maintain stock and supplies as needed.
- Recordkeeping:
- Assist the dentist in maintaining patient records, including documentation of diagnosis, treatment plans, and informed consent.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week
