What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Lead position at Novagard?
Summary/Objective
The Quality Lead position requires a college degree and a strong background in quality management systems and laboratory procedures. A successful candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing environment, leading projects, and supporting the quality team. The Quality Lead should be able to work on customer issue resolution including root cause analysis and development of corrective actions. This role requires, but is not limited to, a good understanding of Control Plans, PFMEAs, MSA’s and GR&R. The candidate will support Novagard’s efforts with legal and company standards for safety and quality.

- Maintain a safe working environment and support a clean, organized workspace.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Lead calibration program and maintain records for quality department in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and NIST Traceability.
- Implementation of new test equipment and new/revised test methods.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring functionality and calibration.
- Provide training to the quality team.
- Conduct MSA and GR&R studies.
- Support development and maintenance of Control Plans and PFMEAs.
- Support new product implementation.
- Lead QMS software setup and maintain for accuracy.
- Be the resource for Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors.
- Develop, write, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), and other quality-related documentation.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of measurement and testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to team efforts.
- Generate accurate reports and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Lead investigations related to customer complaints and non-conformances including 8D CAR.
- Support Internal, Product and Customer Audits.
- Detect, report, and address deviations from quality standard
Competencies
- Must be skilled in communication of peers, production operators, management staff, and upper management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
- Experience working with NetSuite and PowerBI would be beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving and Analytical skills.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Familiarity with mathematical and statistical concepts as applied to quality control.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot lab testing equipment.
- Must have good work ethics and a socially responsible mindset.
- Collaboration and working in a team environment.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not require supervisor experience.
Work Environment
This is an on-site role that routinely uses laboratory measuring and testing equipment in an industrial setting.
Physical Demands
The employee may be required to stand, lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Travel
Customer Visits may be required (< 10%).
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts,
8:00 am – 4:30 pm (First Shift)
4:00 pm – 12:30 am (Second Shift)
(Subject to change based on business demands)
Required to work OT if necessary.
Required Education and Experience
- A College/University Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Chemistry, Business, etc.) is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of technical experience working in Quality Control and Manufacturing.
- In-depth understanding of quality control standards, testing methods, and equipment.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, and NIST Traceability.
