To provide safe and effective surgical care, through the performance of specific duties, as the surgical technician during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of the surgeon. Performs routine first assistant duties as well as specifically delegated duties according to The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting standards and established policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assist in the maintenance of a safe environment for all. Keeps current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment.

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical technologists AND hold and maintains the Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by the NBSTSA; or has completed an appropriate training for surgical technology in the US armed forces or the US Public Health Service; or was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility in South Carolina before 01/01/2008; or is in the service of the federal government.
- One or more years experience as a Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
- Maintains current BLS certification.
