Job Summary
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH NHRMC) is looking for a highly skilled pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to adults in our outpatient Oncology space, with some inpatient responsibilities. NH NHRMC is the 9th largest health-system in North Carolina with 800 beds and is a comprehensive stroke and level II trauma, teaching community hospital. The Zimmer Cancer Center (ZCC) and Brunswick Forest sites consist of outpatient chemotherapy, infusion therapy, and radiation services. Around 90 patients are seen daily in the oncology infusion center at ZCC, with 30 patients a day at Brunswick Forest.
The Pharmacy Vision is to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time, and that each Pharmacy employee understands how he or she contributes to the health system’s vision of achieving that commitment to patients and families. Each Pharmacy employee will be essential in ensuring that Novant Health Pharmacy exists to ensure safe, effective, and affordable medication use in our communities, one person at a time.
Pharmacists work with other healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens using evidence-based medicine and standards of care. The pharmacist will enter into a collaborative practice agreement with medical and gynecologic oncologists, focusing on toxicity assessment, treatment plan development and review, patient education, and supportive care follow-up. Other responsibilities include: providing educational in-services, developing policies and/or processes to improve departmental operations, participation in at least one departmental or hospital committee, and serving as student and resident preceptor. Breakdown of job responsibilities include: direct patient care (70%), order verification/distribution (10%), education (15%), and administration (5%).

- Education: 4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy, required. Doctorate of Pharmacy, preferred.
- Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification, preferred.
- Additional Skills Required: Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team. Applicants must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, have completed a PGY2 Oncology residency or equivalent with significant oncology experience, and be eligible for North Carolina licensure. Board Certification must be obtained for credentialing at NH NHRMC.
