Job Title: Registered Nurse – Surgery Center
General Summary
As a Registered Nurse in our Surgery Center, you will be integral in providing high-quality pre-operative care and sedation management. You will support patients through their surgical journey, ensuring their safety and comfort while collaborating closely with the surgical team.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Uphold and promote the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Surgery Center.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assess patient needs by taking vital signs, patient history, and medication lists, and identifying chief complaints to develop tailored care plans.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including educating them on procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Administer sedation as needed, monitoring patients throughout the process to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to provide seamless patient care before, during, and after procedures.
- Document all patient interactions and ensure accurate entry of information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Monitor patients post-surgery, providing appropriate care and instructions for recovery.
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure that all surgical equipment is prepared and functioning properly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of protocols and educational materials.
- Stay current with best practices in surgical care and sedation techniques.
- High school diploma/GED and completion of an accredited nursing program.
- South Carolina or compact RN nursing license; ACLS certification required or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience, preferably in a surgical or critical care setting.
