Novant Health's Float Pool needs Operating Room and Pre/Post/PACU Float Pool Registered Nurses with two (2) years of recent, consecutive Operating Room, Pre-op, Post-op and/or PACU experience to join either the Super or General Float Pool.
The Float Pool RN will serve as a healthcare team leader by:
- Establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their support system
- Utilizing the best scientific evidence and compassionate care to assist in navigating our patient's healthcare journey.

- Start time vary from 5:00am to 8:00am - 8- or 12-hour shifts.
- Be part of a market-based team that is assigned to varying units to ensure that patient care needs are met within the assigned facility.
- Super Float Pool RNs will have the skills, competency, and qualifications to work in all acute care facilities and Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) within the defined Greater Winston-Salem Market (GWSM).
- General Float Pool RNs will have the skills, competency, and qualifications to work in 3 acute care facilities and 3 Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) within the defined Greater Winston-Salem Market (GWSM).
- You are responsible for providing safe, continuous quality patient care in a variety of settings.
Surgical Services Specific
- Perform in scrub, circulating, and first assistant or pre/post S operative roles.
- Assign activities to staff based on qualifications and patient needs.
- Perform based on departmental policies (i.e., Surgical counts, time out or anesthesia blocks).
- Continually monitor and anticipate the needs of the interdisciplinary team.
- Proficient in telephone screening and interviewing skills.
- Use facility resources appropriately and avoid wasteful practices.
- Analyze work area and make recommendations for potential cost effective or process improvements.

- Education: 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree Preferred. BSN Preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two years experience Required. CSSO RNs will fall into 1-2 of the following pre-determined sub-specialties: Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN, Critical Care RN, Emergency Services RN, Behavioral Health RN, Women's Service RN or Perioperative RN required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current compact licensure in appropriate state Required.Specialty Certification Preferred. Additional Skills Required: Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and computer literacy. Advanced training as required by department/unit/facility per identified skill set/sub category. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing. Has the ability to interpret information and identify each patient's requirement for care relative to his/her age specific need. Has the knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age. Successfully complete the Cardiac dysrhythmia test or Cardiac dysrhythmia course within 3 months of hire. ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification upon hire or must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire (excluding BH). Emergency Department- CPI certification and NRP, PALS or ENPC Behavioral Health - CPI certification Women's Services - NRP. Pediatrics-PALS Labor and Delivery, Antepartum RN -fetal monitoring course. Mother/Baby RN-breastfeeding course.
- Additional skills required:Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) course.
