About the Role
This is a fully remote position!
The Technical Sales Engineer will provide support for various sales and marketing strategies across all Sales Regions (West Coast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Southwest, & Midwest.) within the electric utility industry. Duties include reviewing product and application documentation, provision of content for marketing materials, provision of content and pricing for customer system proposals, trade show attendance and exhibition support, sales support for customer demonstrations, and customer training. This is a remote opportunity with 50-75% travel required for this role. Must have experience with electric utility automation.
What You’ll Do:
- Understand the capability and application of NovaTech branded products
- Support customers with the integration of Orion (utility automation), Bitronics (metering), Kronos (GNSS Clock), and Hermes (hardened utility networking) products
- Consult with customers on technical issues
- Participate in Bid & Proposal activities
- Develop and deliver product demonstrations and documentation
- Support field sales in customer presentations and at trade events and other product exhibit opportunities
- Provide technical support to the sales team during the sales cycle
- Support sales team on technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science or has at least four years of electric utility automation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with various Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) in the electric utility industry
- Experience with various SCADA protocols; for example, DNP3, Modbus, IEC-61850, etc
- Experience with substation architecture and worked with network and serial communications
- Experience managing live chats, testing, and troubleshooting solutions
- Programming experience in Lua, Python or C/C
- Understanding of Linux operating systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical knowledge of utility technologies, such as Operational Technology (OT), protection and control, microgrid technologies, renewable energy systems, or energy management.
- Ability to travel frequently up to 75%
Bonus Experience:
- Have experience managing Radius systems for ID management
- Familiar with IT security best practices
- Working knowledge of databases
