Overview of Role:

The Supervisor, Technical Services manages the teams that construct and maintain the entire substation system for NOVEC. This position is responsible for the full range of supervisory duties including work assignments and monitoring, staff development, performance reviews and disciplinary actions. Job Dutie

s:Supervises crews in construction and maintenance activities for distribution and transmission substation

s.Sets clear expectations and provides ongoing feedback to employees regarding their performance. Effectively addresses performance issues. Conducts comprehensive performance reviews (per applicable bargaining unit contract

).Responsible for the proper application of local union contracts and agreements. Works with managers and employees to resolve grievances and concerns in a timely and complete manne

r.Coordinates maintenance and construction of assigned assets by arranging for staffing, materials, and equipment with other departments such as Operations, Metering, Communications, Engineering, Planning, Control Center, and contractors according to prescribed schedules and method

s.Responsible for the reliability and condition of substation asset

s.Analyzes maintenance data and accurately inputs the data into the maintenance databas

e.Directs safety awareness and compliance initiatives within the group, and monitors safety performance. Champions efforts to achieve world-class excellence regarding safe work practices and procedures, and safety performanc

e.Demonstrates and role models a customer-first attitude. Seeks to quickly resolve customer issues by collaborating with employees and other department

s.Performs complex technical tasks for protective relaying and control systems, high voltage electrical and RF equipment, telecommunications, supervisory, and data acquisition system

s.Performs and maintains, with troubleshooting at the component level, all electronic devices in SCADA, substation, and telecommunication equipmen

t.Responds to major substation and telecommunication outages. Directs and or performs substation switching in emergencie

s.Works continually towards self-development to stay current on telecommunication, transmission, and substation equipment, and supervisory procedures and practice

s.Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processe

s.Supervises, schedules, assigns, and monitors the daily activities of IBEW substation technicians to ensure a high level of customer servic

Education and Experience Requiremen

ts:Associates degree in electrical or electronics or a related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five to seven years of related experience and/or training including management of programs and supervision of people is requir

ed.Experience in the electric utility industry including supervision of union employees is strongly desir
