Senior Construction Manager (Solar Energy)

Compensation : $130,000 - $150,000 / year

Description

The senior construction manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities pertaining to the construction and maintenance of solar projects in accordance with company policies and governmental regulations and is responsible for direct supervision of construction managers and foremen on a day-to-day basis. The Sr Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the PV and Battery Field Construction activities including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural. This position plays a key role in the department through managing the quality, schedule and safety objectives. Specific key areas of focus include monitoring job safety, conducting job safety meetings, supervising employees, supervising subcontractors and vendors, maintaining project schedules and interfacing directly with the customer. The successful candidate will have a strong site presence and ensure company objectives are achieved.

What you'll do :

1. Organizes and directs construction managers for completion of onsite activities.

2. Assure compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA and / or MSHA safety standards.

3. Works with Project Management team on the construction effort from estimating, management and scheduling.

4. Supports construction managers in coordinating sub-contractors for timely completion and quality

5. Assists construction managers in negotiating pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to fall within industry market pricing and provides competitive customer bid.

6. Assists construction managers with reading, interprets and understands all project documentation such as insurance, permitting and project scheduling.

7. Works with construction management team and foremen to manage all field crew personnel :

a. Electricians

b. Laborers

c. Operators

d. QAQC

e. Staking

8. Assist preconstruction team with estimating and site visits

9. Provides daily updates on field activities to Senior leadership as directed.

10. Documents delays / changes; sets up staging areas as needed.

11. Assist in the development and implementation of quality standards.

12. Assist in the development and implementation of safety standards.

13. Assist in the creation of company tool lists and inventories as needed.

14. Mentor and train new employees and NES policies and procedures.

15. Troubleshoot and solve issues with field teams.

16. Report to the senior management team general field performance of construction activities on a consistent basis.

17. Upload Safety, QC, daily reports, incidents and testing documents to project folders in Procore.

18. Seek cost savings through vendor negotiations, market analysis, and eliminating waste.

19. Provide daily reports to the VP of Construction.

20. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving.

21. Perform reviews for construction managers and site leadership.

22. Other duties as assigned

What you'll need :

  • Associate degree or comparable experience in construction technology
  • 10 years minimum of supervisory experience in a related field
  • Experience working on 1MW Solar Projects
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and / or self-perform work
  • Experience in the overall integration of design engineering, construction, start-up, close-out, turnover, and subsequent O&M of a variety of construction projects
  • Previous Budget schedule / performance / quality responsibilities
  • Proficiency with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
  • Proficiency with Office 365 software and programs
  • Proficiency with Procore or other construction management software
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Expected travel 75%
