Operations Leader – Roll Shop

Position Overview

Novelis Bay Minette has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Leader – Roll Shop to join our new Bay Minette plant. This position reports to the Cold Mill Unit Manager and is responsible for the training, supervision and coordination of operations employees

Responsibilities:

• Drive Our Safety Culture; implement the EHS management system; and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day-to-day operations. This includes compliance to all Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
• Coordinate and support all operational activities and housekeeping efforts in the manufacturing unit to ensure employee and equipment safety, resulting in achieving production objectives at the highest Safety, Quality and Service standards, at the optimal cost
• Lead and contribute to the development of process Tooling improvements in the shop, as well as new processes and new products on the Cold and Hot Mills
• Develop and implement training materials, procedures and WIs for operations team to meet all applicable quality system standards
• Ensure these skills are evaluated at appropriate intervals and developmental plan(s) established
• Continuously Learn and Develop an ongoing knowledge of manufacturing processes, operations, and quality standards to help ensure the utilization of the best production methods and meeting of quality specifications
• Control operational costs for consumables involved in the roll shop processes- grinding, chock maintenance, as well as identify, plan and execute CAPEX investments and buying of rolls and roll shop related spare parts for both the hot and cold mill in close coordination with the Roll Shop Process Engineer.
• Participate on the shop floors FMEAs and RCAs alongside EMRA and Process teams
• Lead daily operational activities and meetings to ensure full adherence to the production plan, quality standards and maintenance plans.
• Lead the hiring/interview process for the Roll Shop team

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, certificate or equivalent in a related field or a comparable combination of education, military and/or professional experience
• Previous roll shop experience from a flat rolling facility required. Aluminum Roll Shop experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a large, high volume manufacturing environment
• Experience in managing/supervising others in a complex and fast paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated results.
• Experience in implementing business plans
• Understanding of cost and budgetary processes, inventory control procedures and methods, as well as operational procedures
• Sponsorship for a United States of America work permit is not offered for this position.

Location Profile

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kinds. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
