Position Overview
The Novelis Kennesaw team is seeking a Quality Lead. This position is a strategic partner representing the site for all ISO 17025 standards, quality issues, and reporting. This role provides hands on support and proactive participation in addressing issues and concerns. One of the major challenges is to be a change agent and engage the employees to increase efficiency in current quality processes. Additionally, the Quality Lead will build a core group of subject matter experts for document control, auditing, management review, and measurement uncertainty.
Responsibilities
- Improve the quality system through CARs, PARs, internal & external audits, measurement uncertainty, document control, critical vendor management and audit, and traceability
- Find opportunities to strengthen the site’s culture of quality and actively engage staff at all levels in the quality mission
- Provide site wide training, workflows and implementation of the ISO 17025 standard and maintaining the site’s ISO 17025 accreditation
- Work closely with the site leadership and staff to ensure uniform application of Quality related policies and practices, and communicate policy changes and tracking/ closure of audit findings
- Lead the testing requirements for over 90 methods on site and keep them harmonized with ASTM and measurement uncertainty (Gauge R&R and other testing)
- Lead the site calibration program and the internal audit program
- Lead the documentation and closure plans for quality actions from Audit or assigned non-conformances
- Lead required management reviews and annual improvement plans
- Lead accountability process for End-to-End traceability from customer requirements to testing to reporting
- Act as point of contact to all external regulatory agencies for quality and customer audits
- Lead competency building for auditors, sustainability team, document control, measurement uncertainty, and other areas as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality
- Trained lead auditor
- Extensive knowledge and skill in development, implementation and maintenance of quality programs/activities and procedures
- Interpersonal skills to create a quality culture, influence technical staff who are balancing project demands and be a quality advocate throughout the research center
- High degree of proficiency in computer software applications with a systematic approach to policy & procedure documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well within all levels of the organization
- Ability to address large groups for presentations and training
- Ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to change, and work with minimal direction
- Ability to interpret standards and apply the content to the physical operations ongoing in the work environment
- Experience in guiding and encouraging a culture of quality through influence and engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Quality
- Quality experience of 5 years in lab and R&D environment with ISO 17025 background
