Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Establish and enforce policies and practices required to provide safe equipment, a safe working environment and safe work practices
- Strategically and tactically own EHS policy, implement the EHS management system and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day-to-day operations
- Influences Plant and partners with Production, Operations, Maintenance, and site management to drive the EHS performance and results
- Monitors changes to all EHS regulations pertaining to their area and reviews recommendations for incorporation into EHS management systems and standards in a timely manner
- Accountable for managing site EHS documentation to include program design, EHS data collection and posting, training documentation, and EHS KPI reports
- Manage site occupational health strategy, including managing site nurse
- Accountable for ensuring site adherence to ISO14001 and other similar institutional guidelines
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Requires minimum 5 years EHS experience within heavy manufacturing.
- Experience running Safety Committees and Emergency Response Teams strongly preferred.
- Requires a thorough, in depth knowledge of all local, state and federal laws and regulations related to areas of responsibility.
- A high level of effectiveness in human relations skills and ability to clearly communicate is necessary.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently as well as with all levels of the workforce.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing process and business policy and practices.
- Desire to take initiative and develop a proactive relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
- ISO14001 experience preferred.
