The Opportunity
You will assume a technical leadership role, developing innovative solutions to complex problems across various industries. This position requires full ownership of projects, with opportunities to think like a systems engineer, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Full life cycle development of mechanical systems, from initial design concepts to deployment.
- Perform and document analyses, including hand calculations, FEA, and CAD.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to satisfy mechanical requirements for electronics integration and control systems.
- Lead design reviews and communicate effectively with team members.
- Be responsible for deadlines and strive for technical excellence.
- Constantly improve your own technical skills and company processes.
- Travel when required to support system assembly, testing, and integration.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis using CAD and FEA software packages.
- 3 years of professional experience in design and analysis of spaceflight mechanisms or structures.
- Demonstrated ability to perform on a highly technical hardware development team.
- Familiarity with GD&T and basic hand tools.
- Competency to design for manufacturing using machining, turning, and 3D printing.
- Ability to run design reviews and generate requirements.
- Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis.
- 8 years of professional experience in design and analysis of spaceflight mechanisms or structures.
- Experience at a lean engineering organization or in a highly technical position requiring entrepreneurial skills.
