Job Summary:

The Registered Behavior Technician® (RBT) will work with clients and their guardians/caregivers under the direction of a Lead Behavior Analyst and Assistant Behavior Analyst. Specific responsibilities will be outlined in the behavioral treatment plan developed for each client to which the RBT is assigned. The RBT will implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA Therapy) 1-on-1 with the client in the office/clinic setting.

Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to: using principles of positive reinforcement, increasing the client’s use of functionally equivalent behavior as a replacement to challenging (maladaptive) behavior, functional communication training, implementing prompting and differential reinforcement procedures, implementing token economy procedures, discrete trial teaching techniques, contriving and capturing teachable moments, social skills development, response blocking, response interruption/redirection, using computer software for data collection, and more.

The employee must be registered with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as an active RBT to be able to work in this position. In addition, proof of completion of a BACB approved 40-hour RBT training course (including certificate) is required. Other requirements include successful completion and clearance with a Level 2 criminal background check, pass a pre-employment drug screening, and pass the RBT Competency Assessment with one of our behavior analysts.

Fluency with speaking/reading/writing English required. Physical requirements of the job include: must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs, must be able to react quickly to behavior outbursts in children and young adults (within 10 seconds is able to start from a seated position on the floor, run 50’ feet, and return to seated position on the floor), physical 'hand-over-hand' prompting of clients while learning new adaptive skills, the ability to effectively use 'response blocking' procedures to protect self and clients from injury, the ability to utilize crisis management (e.g., manual restraint) procedures where/when needed or directed, the ability to stand for extended periods of time, the ability to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, and the ability to work in multiple settings.

Essential Qualifications Include:

  • Registered Behavior Technician: active RBT certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma
  • Preferred experience working/caring for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or other behavioral related diagnoses (e.g., ADHD, ODD)
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals with the diagnoses listed above
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a treatment team member
  • Ability to work well independently and seek assistance as needed
  • Ability to follow instructional guidance under supervision of Behavior Analysts
  • Novo Behavioral Services trainings
  • Maintain crisis management training certification
  • CPR & First Aid training
  • Prevention/Reporting of Abuse/Neglect/Mistreatment training
  • HIPAA Compliance training
  • Additional trainings required by health plans

Job Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all session data and progress notes are being completed in by the end of the session or day of session in our electronic health record for our clients
  • Provide individual instruction to individuals or small groups of students to improve verbal behavior, academic performance, life skills, and reduce behavioral excesses
  • Under the direction of a BCBA, delivers effective, functional treatment plans based on established goals in collaboration with family members and other service providers
  • Maintain 80-100% on implementation integrity and program notebook checks
  • Completion of and passing score on all ABA trainings and tests
  • Follows various treatment techniques (focused on prevention, teaching and management) outlined in client's assessment
  • Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, or counselors to determine student needs, develop plans, and assess student progress
  • Communicate progress to parents or teachers in written progress reports, in person, by phone, or by email as approved by supervisor
  • Implement teaching/training materials, visual supports and communication tools as appropriate for each client
  • Maintain accurate records of clients' assessment results, progress, feedback, or school performance, ensuring confidentiality of all records
  • Submit all other needed document requests within 48 hours of the request
  • Attend all scheduled sessions
  • Attend all scheduled staff/team meetings
  • Receive and implement feedback in a professional manner
  • Submit time sheets accurately by deadline

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
