What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Route Planner - Hybrid position at Novo Distribution?
We are looking for a Route Planner to work a hybrid schedule out of our Zeeland, MI corporate office and manage the load planning for a designated location(s). The route planner works with the sales and warehouse operation teams to coordinate shipping schedules and builds efficient loads to minimize miles and maximize fill capacity on our trucks. The Load Planner advises the Fleet Supervisor of driver plans and execution of current and next dispatched runs to effectively utilize driver hours of service.

What are we looking for in a Route Planner?
- Manages daily route passes and order movement from WMS to Routing software.
- Develops and manages the routes to meet sales needs, customer requirements, and drivers’ needs while operating with attention to compliance and efficiencies.
- Strategically plans routes to meet customer and company expectations, while staying within company budget and customer’s needs.
- Ensures loads and cargos for efficient distribution and ensures maximum capacity fill on trucks.
- Evaluates and implements driver plans regularly to ensure compliance with company standards and DOT requirements.
- Facilitates relationships with 3rd party agencies to outsource truck runs that will not work for our fleet.
What would make a successful Route Planner?
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in transportation scheduling/routing.
- Thorough understanding of DOT regulations.
- Functional knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Capability to communicate efficiently with all levels of employees, management, customers, and vendors both verbally and in written form.
- Capacity to multi-task with speed and accuracy while prioritizing tasks and ability to maintain excellent organizational skills.
- Basic math, interpersonal/team, and reasoning skills
- Ability to read, understand and conduct written procedures and standard work instructions.
Above and Beyond Qualifications
- Prior experience in distribution or manufacturing environment, preferably in logistics.
- Prior experience fleet management systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Travel Requirements
- Overnight travel may be required.
