The Position
This role directs and operationalizes NNI's Ethics & Compliance (E&C) risk management program by leading and managing four functional areas: Policies & Training, Monitoring & Auditing, Investigations, Technology & Data Analytics.
Risk Management Program
This leader plays a critical part in designing and driving the core risk management operations of the E&C team, ensuring the identification, assessment, and mitigation of compliance risks while maintaining and strengthening the culture of ethical and compliant business practices.
This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to oversee critical compliance program elements while identifying trends and insights to inform the broader E&C program and business stakeholders.
This role takes a proactive and strategic approach to driving continuous improvement of the compliance operations and enhances the E&C program based on industry trends and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk assessment, management and mitigation strategy for the E&C function and oversee Policies & Training, Monitoring & Auditing, Investigations and Data Analytics teams, ensuring that allowable information is shared and aggregated across teams to derive risk insights that will inform the overall E&C program
- Collaborate with the E&C Business Partner team to coordinate and share risk assessments and insights
- Oversee strategic efforts on the E&C monitoring and auditing program to ensure risk assessment effectiveness and related monitoring and auditing activities are appropriately applied
- Ensures monitoring and auditing findings and insights are effectively reported, remediated and that trends are identified and escalated to E&C leadership timely
- Oversees the team conducting internal compliance investigations into potential compliance violations in accordance with NNI policies and requirements
- Ensure timely development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions based on investigation findings
- Supports the process to coordinate and generate accurate and timely reports (routine and ad hoc) on compliance program priorities, activities, outcomes, and trends, as needed, to support CECO reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Oversees the management and enhancement of the technology and data analytics tools/systems to allow for continuous improvement of the E&C program and provide actionable data for compliance to implement and refine controls, and support the Business
- Oversee the development of E&C training curricula and training plans, ensuring a proactive, risk-based approach to E&C education and training activities
- Manages the team that develops and maintains systems for tracking and reporting compliance issues, resolutions, and trends
This role supports NNI's adherence Novo Nordisk policies, guidelines, business rules, and other laws and regulations applicable to ethics and compliance in a global pharmaceutical organization.
Relationships
Reports to Vice President, Risk Insights & Management. Manages teams responsible for Policies & Training, Monitoring and Auditing, Technology and Data Analytics, and Investigations (four direct reports). May serve as a member of global ethics & compliance forums and committees. Partners closely with NNI and Global Ethics & Compliance. Internal stakeholders include all E&C functional areas (e.g., investigations, monitoring and auditing, business partners), Global Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Finance, People & Ops, and others.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
Minimum of twelve (12) years of combined experience in risk management, ethics & compliance, or legal roles in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and requirements within the pharmaceutical industry
Experience with oversight of compliance training preferred
Proven track record of developing and implementing risk management strategies
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Strong people leadership and team management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and other internal and external stakeholders
Uncompromising ethics and high standard of personal integrity and handles confidential information with discretion
