The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten working weeks, in-terns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship pro-gram also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.

Scope of Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven intern to join the RNAi Pharmacology team to help develop siRNA therapeutic strategies for the central nervous system. This individual will investigate cell type specificity of the Global Nucleic Acid Therapies TRU RNAi platforms in the central nervous system.
The candidate will focus on evaluating cell type specificity of novel siRNA platforms. Under guided supervision, the intern will be responsible for identifying these cell types using established model systems, including : in vitro assays, fixed tissue histology, and flow cytometry.
The main responsibilities of the role include performing lab assays according to SOPs and troubleshooting assays with guided assistance. In collaboration with lab mentors, the intern will generate, analyze, and interpret data. An ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific data both in writing and in oral presentations will be a key aspect of this role.
The ideal candidate will have an interest and an understanding of central nervous system anatomy and physiology. Prior wet lab experience is required, ideally with sterile cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques (i.e. qPCR, Western blotting), and tissue processing (i.e. mRNA extraction, protein lysate generation). Prior experience with histology techniques is de-sired, but not required.

Qualifications
- Must be a current student enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree
- An in progress undergraduate or graduate degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline preferred
- Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers
- Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
