The Position
Responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all relevant political laws and regulations, including campaign finance laws, lobbying regulations, and ethics rules. This role involves monitoring political activities, working with outside vendors on political compliance matters, and completing policies and procedures to mitigate internal and external compliance risks. Leads political contribution process for the Political Action Committee (PAC) and Corporate political contributions, sponsorships, and memberships. Works with the Manager of Political Affairs on daily operations of the PAC.
Relationships
Reports to the VP of Public Affairs. Interacts with internal parties as appropriate and serves as lead contact for all internal colleagues for political compliance. Interacts with external parties including consultants working for Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), law firms, vendors and other entities. Interacts with various people internally, including legal, compliance, risk management, Account Payable, Public Affairs, and those from other departments. Position will be based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Essential Functions
- Work with Manager of Public Affairs to ensure all internal and external compliance requirements are met, including but not limited to :
- Monitor and process all PAC contributions as well as all corporate political contributions, memberships, and sponsorships while working with internal and outside vendors on lobbying activities and other political engagements from the Public Affairs team
- Ensure employees and relevant stakeholders are aware of and understand compliance requirements
- Update and implement political compliance policies, procedures, and tracking
- Represent the organization in compliance-related discussions and meetings
- Provide guidance to senior management and other departments on political compliance matters
- Establish working relationship with internal legal and compliance departments
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to political compliance for all NNI
- Prepare and file all necessary and required compliance reports with help from outside vendors
- Collaborate with Manager of Public Affairs on PAC activities, contributions, and PAC administrative duties
- Ensure PAC compliance with state and federal laws
- Work with Federal and State Government Affairs teams to ensure contribution budget management and tracking
- Work with Public Affairs team and NNI to ensure lobbying, filing, registration, etc. needs are met
Physical Requirements
10-20% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
The base compensation range for this position is $155,000 to $175,000 Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
