Duties and responsibilities
QA/QC
Ability to understand fiber optic network layout and give feedback.
AutoCAD drafting may be needed for minor adjustments
Staying up to date on equipment spec and ensuring the design is efficient.
Ensure the design follows the approved permit.
GIS systems
· NOVOS FiBER has partnered with IQGEO to maintain a system of record for our network.
· This role requires ensuring the shape file upload matches the planned build and can upload to IQGEO with minimal correction.
· IQGEO will require constant updates as the fiber network progresses.
Permits
· Review all guidelines set by each municipality in each market that we are working in.
· Assisting with permit packages and submittals.
· Review permits before submittal to ensure faster approval from municipalities.
Outside Plant Equipment
· NOVOS FiBER currently deploys Hexatronics equipment for fiber distribution.
· Keep up to date with the latest product list from Hexatronics and understand how it should be designed. This material will be provided.
· New technology is always being developed, it is important to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Qualifications
State the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
All qualifications must comply with provincial human rights legislation.
Qualifications include:
Education – Highschool and 3-4 years’ experience or an Engineering Degree
Specialized knowledge – Past experience working with ISP’s in network design and GIS systems
Skills – AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Suite,
Abilities – Office job with sitting for 8 hours a day, occasionally getting to the work location and walking the job.
Other characteristics such as personal characteristics – Great teamwork, excellent communication, attention to detail, not afraid to ask for help
Professional Certification – Any are welcome, but none are required
Experience – 3-4 years of experience with fiber design and GIS platforms
Working conditions
This will be a Monday – Friday 8-5 position. Most of the time will be in office but will occasionally require in field visits.
Physical requirements
Requires the ability to sit for 8 hours a day, lift at least 20lbs, occasionally do site walks
