In this role you’ll make an impact by:
Our Chemical Operators at Novonesis are skilled workers who are tasked with setting up, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and processes in our industrial biotechnology factory. Our industrial biotechnology factory uses microbes (living organisms found in nature) to produce bio-solutions which are enzymes (produced by fermenting & feeding microbes) and proteins used as food ingredients. The bio-solutions are used in the production of a variety of products in industries such as food, household care, animal nutrition, biofuels and more. The role of the Chemical Operator is key to ensure safety, quality, and compliance of the production process. Some duties they are tasked with daily include: preparing raw materials, troubleshooting equipment, operating plant processing computers, making minor repairs, replacing parts, and testing materials for quality & compliance.

Members of the Recovery Operations Team will:

• Get their hands dirty! This is a hands-on-role where we operate equipment sometimes manually and sometime with the help of computers. Most of the equipment is specific to our industry so we provide lots of training and support. Also, every task has a written procedure with steps that are checked off as you go.

• Move! This isn’t a job where you sit all day. In fact, we have some specific physical requirements to do the job. For example, you need to be able to:

  • Lift 60 pounds (a large bag of dog food)

  • Pull 20 pounds (a weighted blanket)

  • Work at heights / in confined spaces

  • Climb stars frequently during each shift

  • Move freely around in the factory and outdoor surroundings, including the ability to push, pull, kneel, and squat

  • Manually manipulate and use equipment and tools (i.e. turn valves & align hoses)

  • Use PPE such as but not limited to: uniform, hard hat, eye protection, ear protection, hair net, beard net (if you have moustache), & respirator (must be clean shaven for respirator fit!)

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts alternating between days & nights every 2 weeks (8:00-8:00 am/pm)

• Week 1: Work Monday and Tuesday, off Wednesday and Thursday, work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

• Week 2: Off Monday and Tuesday, work Wednesday and Thursday, off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Expected starting pay:

• Starting hourly rate $20.00, potentially more depending on experience

• Overtime and shift differential pay available

• Mandatory certification program for safety and job compliance
