What are the responsibilities and job description for the MACHINE OPERATOR position at Novum Structures LLC?
Authority, Scope and Basic Function
Responsible for the set-up and operation of machines and tools in the production department, including but not limited to band / circular saws, drill presses, punch presses and hand drills.
Essential Duties and Principal Responsibilities
- Visually check the equipment prior to use to ensure safe operating condition.
- Operate lift truck and overhead crane to move material.
- Assist in inventory and receiving of raw materials.
- Review fabrication drawings for clarity of information before starting.
- Verify material sizes using drawings and cutting documents prior to production starting.
- Check own work using various inspection tools, such a calipers, depth gauges, etc.
- Complete all required paperwork (time sheet, cut lists, pick lists etc...) and turn in at the end of the shift.
- Effectively manage and prioritize workload based on schedule and as directed by supervision.
- Work with the Fabrication Manager to ensure the safety of persons in the shop.
- Fills in and assists with whatever other duties, as called upon and / or as needed
