We're working with a fast-growing landscape supply company that's on the hunt for a seasoned Controller to join their team. In this key leadership role, you'll head up the accounting department and be the go-to for everything from financial reporting and budgeting to forecasting and compliance. Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Oversight: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by overseeing accurate transaction posting, proper coding, and ensuring reconciliations are completed on time.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports) in compliance with GAAP. Perform variance analysis and provide detailed insights for management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals. Track performance against projections and adjust forecasts as needed based on financial trends.
- Tax Compliance & Filing: Oversee preparation and filing of sales tax, income tax, and other statutory filings. Collaborate with auditors to ensure timely and accurate submissions to tax authorities.
- Internal Controls & Audit Support: Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy and prevent errors. Lead the preparation and support of internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
- Cost Management: Manage the allocation, tracking, and reporting of costs related to landscape projects, equipment, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Management: Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payment, reconciliation, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Payroll Oversight: Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely calculations of employee wages, deductions, and compliance with applicable tax laws.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring proper training on technical accounting functions and promoting a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (required).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in financial reporting and analysis.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team.
- Ability to manage day-to-day operations while ensuring financial practices align with long-term strategic goals and company growth.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with senior management, auditors, vendors, and other leadership.
- Experience in landscape, construction, or related industries (preferred)
- Experience with QuickBooks ( preferred).
